Our Ask a Surgeon tool is a great way to communicate directly with a hair transplant surgeon without having to speak with sales representatives before you speak to the surgeon. Further, unlike many hair transplant forums that are polluted with politics, potentially fake posts, spam, sale reps and "opinions," why not get the facts and answers to your hair transplant questions directly from a qualified surgeon? Our Ask a Surgeon tool allows you to do just that. Further, our tool is a great method of reviewing and comparing multiple responses form multiple hair transplant surgeons at the same time!

Is it possible to repair a bad hair transplant?
Absolutely- this is a very large part of my practice, repairing the prior work, with a variety of techniques including FUE plug removal, further grafting, and scar repairs, amongst other techniques.

How long do I need to keep my staples or stitches in with strip surgery?
Personally I utilize sutures, which for local patients get removed at 10 days. However, for the large number of my out of town patients, dissolvable sutures are utilized, which do not need to be removed.
-
When does the hair start growing?
This varies from patient to patient. I have seen some patients whose hair does not shed, and starts growing immediately, and others with delayed growth where the hair doesn't start growing until 4 or 5 months after surgery. The average is 10 to 12 weeks.
-
Is there a danger of infection after surgery?
There is always a risk of infection after any procedure. I place all patients on an antibiotic for 3 days afterwards, and of course perform the procedure under strictly sterile technique.

How long do I need to wait after surgery before I can exercise?
I permit most patients to begin light exercise at 5 days after a procedure, and full resumption of exercise at 2 weeks.
